Hofstra Celebrates the Holidays with Local Children!

As part of Hofstra University’s dedication to give back to the community, every year the Division of Student Affairs, the Office of Student Leadership and Activities, the Student Government Association, and the Inter-Fraternal and Sororal Council sponsors the annual tradition Hofstra Celebrates the Holidays. Last night was the kick-off to this yearly celebration when a group of about 40 children from a local homeless shelter came to celebrate the holidays with us for the Children’s Outreach Project!

Led by the Discovery Club, along with support from Greek Life, SGA and HAMA, there was an abundance of crafts, festive foods, holiday carols, and a general feeling of camaraderie. Many children left saying this was the highlight of their day! For many of the volunteers however, the kid’s impromptu Christmas caroling was the best part of the evening. Everyone would agree this annual event was once again a great success!

Make sure to join the Hofstra community for the Holiday Lighting Ceremony this Wednesday, December 5th at 5 p.m. outside Hofstra Hall. Immediately following the ceremony a reception will be held in the Student Center Main Dining Room. Come see the holiday murals created by our students, have a donut and cup of hot apple cider, and maybe even make a craft or two!
